Hermès, the iconic French luxury brand, is thrilled to announce the opening of its newly expanded and relocated store in the vibrant city of Florence, Italy. The store, first established in 1991, is one of twelve Hermès locations in the country, and it now showcases the brand’s sixteen métiers across two levels, seamlessly integrating the brand’s creativity, craftsmanship, and the city’s rich cultural identity.

The store’s architectural design, created by the Parisian agency RDAI, pays homage to the Renaissance building’s classic Florentine features, with the facade dating back to 1578. The exterior has been carefully restored and enhanced, inviting visitors inside to explore the marvelous interiors.

The spacious interiors are a harmonious blend of local hallmarks, from the polychromatic marble to the geometric motifs and a palette of natural terracotta and greens. The welcoming main room features the signature Faubourg pattern, which offsets the women’s and men’s silk universes and fashion jewelry.

The store’s design presents a calm and immersive environment for each room, connected by marmorino passageways. Through a marriage of stucco, marble, and geometric custom carpets, the store pays homage to Italy’s renowned design heritage, seamlessly integrating the house’s emblematic ex-libris and Grecques lighting.

The store’s décor is further enhanced by a selection of artworks from the Émile Hermès collection, including a preparatory drawing for the carré Le Pégase d’Hermès by Christian Renonciat and natural landscape photographs by Italian and American artists that harmonize with antique works like an Etruscan bit and a Luristan bit from the eighth century B.C.E.

Adorning the leather goods area, a specially commissioned wood panel by Anglo-Japanese artist Christian Hidaka, titled “Paperole,” offers a twenty-first-century interpretation of a carriage with a lone papier-mâché coachman at the reins with his horses.

The store’s window displays, designed by Italian designer Andrea Mancuso, reinterpret the city through a miniature weaving of household objects, balancing the fantastical with the ordinary. The central windows reveal a symbolic horse and carriage, reflecting the house’s relationship to craftsmanship, equestrian heritage, and timeless elegance.

Hermès invites loyal customers and new visitors alike to discover its contemporary creations in an environment that seamlessly blends Florence’s artistic rhythm with the creative spirit and excellence of the house’s craftsmanship.
