Event though we travelled in July/August (rainy season), we only experienced rain during 3-4 nights and maybe once or twice for a short time during the day. With temperatures at a constant 30°C and humidity of at least 75%, the rain was barely noticeable. When the sky is clear all the colors of the island shine in saturated colors, from the juicy greens of the (palm) trees, to the white beaches and the turquoise water surrounding the island. Your photos will look amazing, no filter needed. The island is big enough to take long walks at the beach and/or around the resort, but not too big that you get lost or don't have time to see everything. The island offers a great varieties of activities: gym, squash, badminton, table tennis, billiard, snooker, a pool, basketball, soccer and beach volleyball. All of which can be done for free if you go All Inclusive which I highly recommend! The buffet is fantastic and offers a great variety of different cuisines. There is a designated Chinese buffet, an Indian buffet, a buffet with freshly grilled fish, beef and chicken, lots of vegetables and freshly cut fruit and a dessert buffet. The different options make the buffet great for pescetarians, good for vegetarians, but only so-so for vegans. Unfortunately there were no dishes served with Tofu, so I would imagine creating a balanced vegan diet would be harder with only a certain amount of nuts available. The staff is always nice and refills your water when they see that you glass is empty. After a while we found our favorite waiter SABBIR and arranged our seating accordingly to always sit in his area. He was very attentive and made us feel comfortable. When you intend to eat a salad, definitely go to KALANA and his wheel of parmesan. He will take your salad, mix it in a carved out section of the cheese and scrape bits off of it before he puts it back on your plate. Not only will you get a fantastic salad, you will also meet one of the most kind staff working there. Just seeing him smile brightens up your day. From the water sports activities, of which there are many (SUP, canoe, Jet ski, snorkeling, scuba diving, snorkeling and fishing trips etc.) we booked a manta ray snorkeling trip and the Big Game Snorkeling Adventure which includes snorkeling to a Turtle sport, a Manta Ray spot and a Whale Shark spot. We booked the trip at the designated counter talking to the exceptional TUMAR. Her English is fantastic and her attitude is very professional. We had a longer discussion about booking arrangements once and she was always patient and had our best interest in mind. In two trips we managed to see all the animals (very lucky!) and had a great time. The staff cautioned everyone to keep their distance to the animals which I find important. Depending on your budget the price for one trip may be on the more expensive side (~140-190USD per person), especially since they cannot guarantee encounters with the animals (which they also always informed you about beforehand). If you care about the environment, choose the traditional Dhoani boat. It may be slower, but I did feel bad afterwards racing across the ocean in a speed boat. It is very loud and disruptive. Also, when we arrived at the whale shark spot, there were about 50 tourists from different resorts snorkeling at the surface to see the animal down below. Luckily people were well behaved and didn't get too close to it (the whale shark was swimming about 4m below the surface), but seeing this many people in one spot was chaotic for the humans and probably stressful for the animal as well. I don't know if that's always the case though. The whale shark did dive out of reach eventually. Generally speaking, the only negative aspects of the resort are on the side of the animals. The sting ray and shark feedings for the tourists disturb the animals' natural food searching patterns as they are conditioned to seek out the locations at a certain time of day to get the food. I already mentioned the masses at the whale shark encounter. Furthermore, snorkeling near the designated resort reef was underwhelming. There were different fish than at the beach near our Beach Villa, but from what weve seen a real reef didn't really exist since most of it seems to be dead. Only gray matter at the bottom of the ocean which is probably not the resort's fault, but due to climate change. The reefs we visited during our snorkeling excursions however were fun to explore and showed us what it can look like. I could write much more, but all in all the positives massively outweigh the negatives and I can only recommend a trip to Villa Park Sun Island! PS: Mind your step at the beach, a lot of cute, little hermit crabs crawling around :) Read Less

Overall we had such a lovely stay that will leave behind a lot of wonderful memories. Our room at the beach was comfortable and clean (thanks to the man who cleans 451, sorry, I don't remember your name), we were happy about our beach chairs with a nice view to "our" little part of this amazing beach, the AC system in our room thankfully was perfectly doing its job. Make sure to bring protection spray against mosquitos anyway. We spent our days walking and chilling at the beach, swimming and snorkeling in this amazing crystal blue water and just listening to the beautiful sound of the ocean, day and night. Spread across the island are some beautiful spots for photographing. This whole island is a beautiful tropical beach scenery with absolutely no filters necessary. While there were a lot of people posing and taking instagram pics, we felt more fascinated with the animals on this island. Most of all the little hermit crabs: if you take your time and take a closer look you will be surprised of how much little wild life is going on next to your feet. Super cute and never scary. Apart from this we took part in 2 snorkeling trips with speed boats. A big Thank You for Tumar from the reception who gave us a lot of Information and advised us friendly and patiently. The trips were organised well and the boat crew and our guide were friendly and thought along. Luckily we saw a Manta, a Whale Shark and a Turtle. Memories for a lifetime! I need to express my heartfelt thanks to all the hard-working, mindful and attentive people in the main restaurant. The food was always a delicious big variety. We loved to get spoiled and often left with a big and full belly :-). You could definitely tell that the people there know exactly what to do, everyone had his/her job and did it well and with a smile. Another big Thank you goes to Sabbir and his colleagues. We always wanted to come back to "his part" of the restaurant, felt very well cared for and liked him a lot. Another person who needs special mentioning is Kalana - this kind hearted soul of a man will make the best salad for you, scraping the parmesan wheel and doing his magic while always having some kind words for you. A day was not a good day without a salad from and a little chat with him! Beside the mentioned people actually everyone working on this island deserves a Thank you. This vacation would not have been this lovely for us without these friendly, polite and caring people. They created a little paradise there and we were grateful to be able to get a taste of it that hopefully will last a long time while going back to Germany. On arrival we were greeted by Aik who was going to look after us during our stay, he gave us some excellent news, we booked the Sunset beach Villa but were upgraded to the Sunset water Villa. The staff, starting form the gardner to the restaurant to receptionist to the barstaff were very friendly bunch always greeting you with a smile. The room was very clean, Manoj who was looking after the cleaning of the room ensured we were comfortable and had everything we needed from water to clean sunbed towels, which were exchanged every night. The pool was clean and well located with coconut trees surrounding it and the beach a few feet away. The pool staff were keen to find a sunbed quickly and placed fresh towels. The food was excellent and varied daily, we used both buffet restaurants, Southern Star and Maaniya Restaurant for Breakfast Lunch and Dinner they served similar dishes but were conveniently located so we could go to the nearest one at time of serving. We decided on FB and not all inclusive as we don't drink alcohol, this was a good choice as the soft drinks and moctails were reasonably priced, currency at hotel was US $. We arrived on the day of heavy storm, our flight was delayed due to this and we missed our connecting flight to the hotel, the hotel staff at the airport looked after us and got us on the next avaliable flight, sadly this was also extremely delayed due to the bad weather. The next day and until our departure we had glorious sunshine so no complaints there. Everyday after breakfast we would walk the entire perimeter of the island about 5.5km. Information for departure was given the night before and we were met at Male airport by hotel rep who took us to the departure area. All in all a great stay we loved it. Read Less

Sometimes you think that is a heaven. We wanna say big thanks, to all stuff, room cleaners, buggy drivers, administration’s and other personal, who always help us with our questions and problems.
