We received a warm welcome from the moment we arrived. The island boasts a stunning reef where you can spot fish and even sharks right away. The food was exceptionally delicious, akin to dining at a Michelin-starred restaurant every time. The morning yoga classes led by April were truly fantastic. The entire staff was incredibly friendly. After having visited Como Maalifushi for 11 nights, we opted to stay at at Cocoa for our last 3 nights - especially to shorten the journey home with a speedboat transfer to the airport. (Just to put Read MoreAfter having visited Como Maalifushi for 11 nights, we opted to stay at at Cocoa for our last 3 nights - especially to shorten the journey home with a speedboat transfer to the airport. (Just to put it in context - Cocoa is the 4th island we visited) Como Cocoa is a very small and unique little island. It is luxurious, yet understated as its sister property Maalifushi. The resort only has overwater villas - most of which are dhoni shaped, and some even come with a loft. You can access the sea directly from the deck of your villa and can snorkel to the channel, where you will find lots and lots of fish and sharks passing by. Be aware of nesting triggerfish though - there was one staring at us and swimming up to us clearly showing that we should hold our distance to her nest. There are only a few rooms with a pool - 4 one bedroom villas with a pool and two two-bedroom villas with a pool, too. One of it can be converted into a three bedroom villa with private gym. For the best and open views one should choose the one bedroom pool villas and the two bedroom villas. We stayed in the two bedroom sunset villa and this is my personal perfect villa in the maldives. It is spacious and even on a cloudy day provides enough space to enjoy the beautiful surrounding from the inside of your villa. It comes with a huge pool, which the kids were enjoying a lot. There is only one dining venue - but the menus changes slightly every day and they have themed nights, were you can order a set menu (Indonesian, Indian). The food is very delicious. They use only the freshest ingredients and prepare them perfectly. The breakfast is a small buffet with fruits, cereals, freshly squeezed juices, yoghurts and some cereal. The other part of the breakfast is a menu, where you can order up to three freshly prepared hot or cold dishes. The dishes are similar to those at Maalifushi and in the end - we tried them all. They are really tasty. The chef and his colleagues offer outstanding service. They came to our table every day to ask if we had special wishes and if there was anything that could be prepared for us. The GM, Vincent, definitely goes the extra mile. He greets every guest every morning and has a chat and wants everyone to enjoy its time. We had some small issues in the beginning of our stay and he solved them brilliantly and without any hesitation. Every villa has an assigned butler - who goes above and beyond, to make his guests feeling comfortable. He also is the one serving you breakfast, lunch and dinner. Thank you, Muru: You did a fantastic job!!! We went on a turtle snorkel expedition and this was truly fantastic. I strongly recommend to take part in one - as it is a one in a lifetime experience. Their marine biologist gives you a short briefing on turtles and how to behave and what to expect before the trip. Then you go on the boat with her and her team and drive around 30 minutes to a reef within the atoll. The sea was a bit choppy and as having 3 kids with us (the youngest one only 3 years old), we were all a bit scared of entering the dark water - but the team went above and beyond to make us feel safe and comfortable. Our family of 5 went into the water with the marine biologist and her colleague. They were so so attentive, especially with our youngest one - they had two boyes with them and so we swam to the reef. And what we saw, was simply amazing. Several turtles, lobster, colourful corals - a huge soft coral, sea anemones and all sorts of fish. We didn't want to stop looking at this healthy piece of reef. They then offered to drive us to a second reef in about 15 minutes away - but the kids were exhausted, so we left it with that. All in all a fantastic experience, which we definitely will repeat when returning to Cocoa. For our 9 pm flight to Qatar we could keep the room until 6 pm before our 40 minutes speedboat ride to the airport. The late-check out was complimentary and it made the day of departure feel like a proper holiday day. Due to the late check-out one can rest before the long, tiring trip to Europe overnight. This was a real treat! Would we visit a second time? To be honest, the love for Cocoa wasn't at first sight - but at second sight we fell in love with this little island. The staff go above and beyond to ensure the guests have a fabulous time, the decor is natural and of a very high standard, the food is delicious and the reef and underwater world are fantastic. Situated on a private island, the landscape is truly breathtaking with its pristine sandbank and crystal-clear waters. The warm and inviting welcome immediately made us feel at home upon our arrival. The resort's bungalows, which gracefully float on the water's surface, exude a sense of tranquility. The room service was commendable, maintaining cleanliness and also treating us to daily servings of fresh fruits and snacks in the room. The staff team was exceptionally friendly and kind, enhancing our overall experience. Starting the day with a healthy and diverse breakfast spread was a delight, and the a la carte menu offered a great selection of delectable dishes. Thus far, this has been our ideal and astonishing beach destination. We intend to return in the future whenever we find ourselves in the Maldives. Congratulations to your team for a job well done!
