The island has changed ALOT in those years, but it is stunning. We stayed in a water bungalow , which was wonderful, waking up to the sight and the sound of the indian ocean was breathtaking. The resort has wonderful restaurants and bars a fantastic spa and is run from top to bottom in a professional and guest catered way. The snorkelling round the Island is fantastic. Loved the Ocean discovery excursion , although didnt spot a Whale Shark , still what a wonderful day. Read Less

My family and I stayed in this hotel for around a week in August 2023 and we selected this island based on research and comments from other travellers on Trip Advisors. This is our fourth trip to Read MoreMy family and I stayed in this hotel for around a week in August 2023 and we selected this island based on research and comments from other travellers on Trip Advisors. This is our fourth trip to the Maldives and hence we kind of know what we wanted. We were looking for a magical getaway with blue waters, an excellent house reef, a good place to see Maldives' sunrise and unreal sea life. We got all of those and more at Vilamendhoo. The hotel exceeded our expectation where we managed to see whale shark, manta, sea turtles and whole lot of reef fishes. Seeing the whale shark is the highlight of the trip, for sure. Vilamendhoo's house reef is better than places that have stayed previously, including, Banyan Tree, Angsana and Royal Island. We also had the chance to try diving near the island with the Euro Divers. These guys are great and we need to give a special word of thanks to Fairoo, who is a great diving instructor and she taught us the ropes! Thanks Fairoo. We were also pleasantly surprised by the friendliness of the staff at Vilamendhoo who treated us warmly during our stay and making this little island such a great get away. Special word of thanks to Ms Farheen who is the manager for concierge who looked after us with a personal touch. Finally, the only recommendation we would make to the hotel is that, we originally booked a water villa and prepaid it as well. Just before arrival, we were informed that we can't stay at that villa as my daughter is not yet 18 years of age. We were asked to stay on the island on a "adjacent bungalow" which was not ideal as you can hear the family next door. We do respect the policy of protecting other users of the water villa but it would have been better if we were informed in advance; there was a possibility that the resort might not have a place for us stay otherwise, lol. Overall, it was a great vacation and it offered a lot of unforgettable memories; it also helped us nailed a new items on the bucket list (e.g. whale shark). We would recommend Vilamendhoo to friends and fellow travellers who are looking for a good island to stay for snorkelling, diving and exploring the surrounding atoll. The resort is ranked as a 4 stars resort but it really operate as a 5 stars resort. Thanks again guys, see you next time! Read Less
