The four bars each have their unique touch, be it the Raalu bar, always exposed to a breeze, overlooking the fine shore break, and surfers in it; the beach bar, overlooking the white and and blue-turquoise lagoon, the swim-up pool bar, or the sunset bar. Our restaurant (there are three, each not so big) always featured a great choice of tasty dishes, all freshly cooked, even providing a great variety for vegetarians, vegans - on some occasions, easily 20 different main course dishes were offered. Our sea view bungalows were great, airy. We loved the terrace as well as first floor balcony overlooking the shore and it's waves. Bungalow style, furniture was tasteful, so were all other buildings. Every evening featured a special, be it a crab race, karaoke, live music, cinema on the beach under the starts - the event locations vary, all finish at 23:00 latest. We enjoyed them! Note that the island has no accessible house reef (as, e.g., Kuramathi) - however, if you know where to look, the lagoon offers some small but beautiful coral gardens, featuring sea turtles, giant box fish, (small) black-tipped reef sharks, huge craw fish, moray eels, large peacock rock cods, large bluefin trevallies, lion fish, octopuses, etc. If you want more, the dive center offers spectacular trips by speedboat (also for snorkelers), which I would not want to have missed - the fish tank and shark nursery trips were exceptional (swimming with 40+ sharks!) - during one trip, we passed a large school of dolphins half way - some doing crazy stunts which I have so far not seen in the wild. We also tried the spa for a 80min tension relief massage, which surpassed expectations. One word about the weather - despite September being rain season, it only rained on average one hour every second day during our 2 week stay - and, with one exception, always during the night. Half of our days were overcast, the other sunny. Last but not least: The staff is fantastic, genuinely friendly, relaxed but efficient, attentive, but unobtrusive. This vacation was the third we spent on the Maledives - the gold medal for service going to the Cinnamon Dhonveli staff with ease - thank you for making this such a wonderful vacation for us!
