Our arrival started at the Read MoreWe stayed here as part of our honeymoon at the end of August and came here from Six Senses Laamu. Very different types of resort so a direct comparison isn't fair. Our arrival started at the domestic terminal in the hotel's own private lounge. We were the only ones in it and it was very good indeed. Staff great too. We didn't have to wait in the terminal, we were taken directly to the gate as soon as boarding started. Arriving at the island by sea plane was stunning and we saw the resort from the air. A wonderful welcome from the team with Maldivian drumming and clapping. A very lovely welcome. We'd booked the entry level overwater villa but were upgraded to a lagoon pool villa as part of our membership in IHG Rewards/Ambassador programme. The room was lovely, over two floors, with its own pool and view out over the ocean from one side and the lagoon the other. Being a new resort, everything was ship shape! The resort was super quiet due to the time of year; only 35% occupancy we were told. That was lovely for us! In fact, our favourite place was The Retreat, an adult only area of the resort. We were the only ones there for most of the time, which was lovely. Eating was excellent across all restaurants. The quality of food was sublime and my personal favourite was the tuna salad at Cafe Umi. The head chef even emailed us the recipe when we commented how good it was. We ate in the Lighthouse twice and really enjoyed the food there too. We stayed on the resort all inclusive rate which allowed us three course meals at any restaurant for lunch and dinner. Including unlimited drinks off the all inc drinks menu. The only small downside was the chef specials at each establishment we're included. Now, I understand that for the lobster evening and some of the super expensive dishes. But Cafe Umi had some great looking specials with prices around the same as the normal mains. This wasn't really a negative as all food was amazing and you were never short of choice, but felt like an odd choice to distinguish some of the dishes apart from others. Staff were great here too. From Taya, our island curator, JB, Jenif, Sweety....so many names I could pick. Maldivian service really is top notch. We really had a super time here and the time flew by. I would wholeheartedly return here if in the maldives again and would strongly suggest if you're looking at booking, to do it. You won't be disappointed. Read Less
