We stayed 2 weeks at the new Avani+ Fares resort and by the time we left we wanted to stay another 2 weeks. You can arrive by seaplane or by domestic transfer from Male and a speedboat ride (we did the latter). From the time we booked, the Avani staff took care of all the details, they sorted out flight times, met us and carried our bags everywhere from the arrival all the way to check-in at Male on the way home. We had a late flight back and the resort fixed our departure as late as possible, giving us the maximum amount of time to enjoy the last day. The resort is new and all the rooms are fresh, well-designed and comfortable. Lots of power plugs with universal fittings, USB charging points, TV with chromecast etc, all very convenient. The lagoon villas had a beautiful view out over the water, proper steps down, it was easy to get into the lagoon, and back out again. Everything worked, the light switches even made sense (!). Rooms are not enormous, but they are plenty big enough even for a long stay. The housekeeping staff kept them clean, tidy, always replenished and did it unobtrusively. Food was universally good the whole trip. As it was low season and the resort was not full the restaurants alternated on different nights, so we got to dine everywhere and try everything. As we were there for two weeks the F&B staff were very helpful and flexible and arranged alternate menus and some special dinners so we had variety the whole trip. There’s a diverse team of chefs who could make pretty much anything we wanted. There’s a good-sized gym, a yoga studio, a large ‘teen’ room with ping-pong, pool, video games and more which was very handy on the occasional wet day. The dive / watersports centre has everything you need and a really wonderful crew, we did quite a few scuba dives, there’s plenty of other excursions to do if you don’t dive. Resort holidays succeed (or not) in most part because of the staff. The staff at Avani+ Fares were .. basically perfect. They were professional and friendly, they anticipated our needs and were always on hand to help, nothing was too much trouble. I started to make a list for this review, but the list quickly included everyone we met, chefs, waitstaff, barstaff, housekeeping, watersports team .. everyone. So just one mention for Jaleel who coordinated all our dining and other requests, checked in on us whenever he saw us and was just outstanding. It was a great holiday, it’s a lovely new resort staffed by a group of caring professionals and we had a wonderful time. Read Less

Avani+ Fares did not disappoint. We stayed in a slick modern water villa with a splash pool and direct access to the sparkling Indian Ocean for snorkelling and swimming. Snorkelling was excellent, the water is literally teeming with fish and we saw turtles on occasion. I used the spa for a pain relief treatment by the physio which was really great and helped me to enjoy my snorkelling even more! The variety of food at the different outlets is good and I loved that they incorporate food from the Maldives and the region on the menus. The Sri Lankan hopper was definitely my favourite on the breakfast menu. While the setting, the food, facilities and services are all great, the standout for me was the client service. You get the sense that they really work well as a team, and that everyone from the GM down wants you to have a fantastic holiday. Thank you Riaan and team, especially our concierge, Aru, who was always on hand to make sure that we had whatever we needed. Thank you also to Yaz who looked after in the various restaurants we visited during our stay and made sure we were well fed! I think that although this resort is relatively new, it is poised to set a new benchmark for luxury vacationing and exceptional service. We are already planning our next trip! Read Less
