With overwater villas and garden suites, Maalifushi is therefore the ultimate away-from-it-all destination for families, couples, surfers and divers. There are some excellent breaks nearby as well as a string of uninhabited private islands, where whale shark sightings are common. Read more Suggest edits to improve what we show. We stayed here for our honeymoon, and it was everything we could have hoped for and more. Our time at Como Maalifushi was, without a doubt, the best vacation we have ever taken. First of all, we cannot say enough wonderful things about our butler, Joy. He was incredibly welcoming, kind, and attentive. He made sure every facet of our experience was perfect and did everything possible to accommodate us. He even threw a few surprises into our trip, like when he ran us a gorgeous, flower-studded bubble bath! We mentioned that we loved mangosteen and longan, and from then on, there were bowls of the fruits waiting for us at breakfast. He truly went above and beyond. At Como, this practice of going above and beyond is the norm. The service is incredible. We were consistently blown away by the little touches: every meal begins with a shot of the juice blend of the day and a deliciously scented cold towel, your villa is stocked with new, homemade, complimentary snacks and fruit every day, the second you sit down at the beach, you’re greeted with ice water - and those are just a few examples! The service throughout is incredibly attentive, and often the stellar staff at Como anticipate your needs before you do! Prepare to be absurdly well taken care of and spoiled when you come here. They’ve really thought of every possible facet of your experience - from the complimentary water sports equipment, to the plush beach beds that are perfect for lazing in the sun, to the wide breadth of available activities. You want specialized private dining options? The sky is the limit. You want a world class spa? Como has it. You want to snorkel with sea turtles? Done. You want a photo shoot with the resident photographer to memorialize your trip? Prepare to be amazed by Raafil’s talent. You want a private movie night under the stars? Como will bring the snacks! We could drone on and on about every wonderful detail of Como Maalifushi, but we will leave you with this: If you have the opportunity to stay at this resort, you simply must go. We have a hard time imagining that any other resort could possibly do it better. Read less Read Less

This was our fourth trip to the Maldives and the third resort visited after Niyama (twice) and Vakkaru. The journey to Como Maalifushi is long and tiring - especially after the long trip from Europe. The seaplane journey takes about one hour - if you stop at other islands it takes even longer. BUT it is absolutely worth it. You are rewarded with the most remote, serene and beautiful location. It is the only resort in the whole atoll, which consists of 60+ islands. Maalifushi is a very special island with a special feeling which is hard to describe to anybody not having been there. It is calm, serene, relaxing and absolutely beautiful. The nature and surroundings are lush - with frangipani trees and hibiscus plants in between loads of coconut palms. You truly feel like in paradise. There is nearly no seaplane/plane or boat traffic - you are far from everything. We stayed in a beach villa with pool (all of the villas do have a pool) on the north western side of the island - which is without a doubt the best location to stay at. The room itself is perfectly designed and felt huge (even for a family of 5 as we were). We liked the room more than any room we have had before. There is a little jungly path to the beach - but the beach itself is visible from the villa nonetheless. You still have your privacy when lying next to your own pool. You have a wonderful turquoise lagoon and a wide beach in front of your room and swimming off the beach is as possible as wonderful it can get. The water is so clear you can see the aquamarine life from the jetty or even from your kayak. A huge asset of Maalifushi is a small little island next to it (Lavadhoo), where you can kayak or use your SUP to access it. It is quite a little workout getting there (depending on the wind and waves) but totally safe and was one of our top activities every day. You feel like Robinson Crusoe exploring this little island and having a bath in the blue waters surrounding it. Snorkelling is excellent. They have a very good and knowledgeable marine biologist (Ricky) on side, who does fantastic excursions and presentations of the underwater world. Thus we learned a lot about the life of corals and turtles. They have residents turtles (green turtles) and resident nurse sharks. These consider Maalifushi as their home as they used to do fish feeding there, but fortuntaly stopped it some time ago. The reef is easy accessible. There is a jetty that leads nearly directly to the drop off and once in the water you can find the usual suspects. Quite a few blacktips, turtles, eagle rays, moraine eels, trigger fish, parrotfish, and loads of school of fish. It was absolutely amazing. The food was excellent. I love their approach of not using any processed foods - everything is freshly made and with the best ingredients. It is not fine dining in any way. It is simple, well prepared food without any bling (which I think is pure luxury). They have two restaurants - the main restaurant Madi, where the menu changes a bit every other day and the Japanese restaurant Tai, where you can enjoy wonderful sunsets. The food at Tai was a bit hit and miss the two times we have been, so we stayed with Madi. We liked the setting at both. Madi is a very relaxed style restaurant, where you can eat with feet in the sand or at the deck next to the pool. Both options are great. Breakfast is surfed at Madi as well and consists of a small buffet with some fruit, cereals, yoghurt, milk, pastries and fresh juices. Then there is the a la carte options, which you can choose 3 of each day. It was more than enough and all freshly prepared and served to your table. We really appreciated that a lot. The spa is excellent, too. Prices are, as always in the Maldives, a bit steep - (200 ++ for 75 minutes) is starting point. We had massages there and they where very good, but not outstanding. The treatment rooms are over water and provide a beautiful setting. They also offer Yoga twice daily, which is very, very good. I would have preferred the morning session to be at 7 instead of 8, but that's just personal preference. The staff are without a doubt a huge asset of that resort. We loved having had a chat to most of them and they all go above and beyond, so that customers have a perfect time in paradise. They want to make everything right -and absolutely deliver. We would like to name all of the staff for having done such a great job, but unfortunately didn't write down all names - they were all great: Special thanks to our butler Joy, who arranged everything during out stay for us. Restaurant bookings, spa booking, actives and he organised a direct seaplane transfer to our second island Como Cocoa- which was such a relief. Despite having travelled in low season we were very lucky with the weather. Most of the days (we have stayed 11 nights at Maalifushi) we had clear blue skies and calm waters. And: there are no mosquitoes. None. Nowhere - I don't know how they do it, but this island is mosquito free. Would we return to Maalifushi? Of course - we will return. It is a perfect place in paradise and I don't have anything to criticise. If you love luxury reduced to a very minimalistic level in combination with excellent service and surroundings - don't hesitate: Book Maalifushi. Read Less
