First we were welcomed at the Male Airport by JWM representatives who collected our luggage and checked it into the seaplane baggage collection counter and then escorted us to the lounge where we had lunch and waited for the seaplane to get ready to board. The seaplane journey was an experience specially if you haven’t been on one before, but it was a bit loud so, I definitely recommend asking the seaplane captains for earbuds which can be provided for free in the plane, since it really helps drown out the noise. Around an hour later we landed on the stunning JWM coast where we received a warm welcome from the staff who stood on deck, clapping and cheering. Then, we met our butler/Thakuru Jaleel who made our entire stay a breeze. As soon as we arrived didn’t have to bother with any of the reception’s formalities and instead were escorted to an buggy and given a detailed tour of the resort and collected complementary snorkel gear and life jackets on the way to the villa. Once there, we were able to complete some quick paperwork in the privacy of our villa after which we got a tour of our gorgeous ocean-pool villa. The meal plan we’d chosen was a only-breakfast incisive deal and the breakfast spread was simply delectable. There were plenty of vegetarian, Jain, gluten-free and vegan options for those with dietary restrictions. Our booking came with a complementary breakfast in pool for one morning which was also an amazing and different experience. Regular meals like lunch and dinner there were equally delicious. Every evening, after the second room service of the day, the staff would leave a small plate of sweet snacks which was a lovely detail. As for activities, all non-motorized activities like kayaking, snorkeling, etc will be provided free of cost, but only if the weather and tide conditions allow it. Motorized activities are also provided like jet skis, scuba diving, etc for an additional cost. The infinity pool in our villa was always fresh and clean and a serene and calm place to rejuvenate. Jaleel was always on the lookout to show us different varieties of fish, sharks, and stingrays which he knew loads about. As for the room, it was spick and span, mainly because of the prompt and efficient room service twice every day. The villa itself was huge and exactly like it’s pictures show it, complete with an indoor and outdoor shower, spacious bath, poolside tanning chairs, and much more. Overall, there’s nothing at all negative about our experience at JW Mariott Maldives and once again a huge huge thank you to the lovely staff there, especially to Jaleel and Bhagyashree who made our journey both memorable and comfortable. Our beach bungalow was large, beautiful, and secluded. Our favorite part was the large, beautiful beach in front of it which we had almost entirely to ourselves. Most days, we saw 5 people or less all day. The food was good. The executive chef, Bir, was always present and runs a tight ship. It’s worth going just for the Thai food at lunch in the treehouse. It was amazing. Our Thakuru, Jaleel, did a wonderful job. This place was more low key and just a small step down from the St. Regis as far as luxury and service. I went diving at both resorts and preferred the diving at the JW. Jess at the JW dive shop was great! As far as snorkeling the house reef, the St. Regis is the clear winner. From the moment I arrived by seaplane, every staff member I encountered has been delightful and showed genuine interest in my experience. My personal host Affan was an absolute star and is a true credit to the resort and Marriott. He took such good care of every aspect during my stay that I felt like royalty. Every request was handled swiftly, efficiently, and with genuine care and attention to detail. The overwater villa was beautifully appointed and very spacious. Luxurious Aromatherapy Associates bathroom amenities were a pleasant surprise, the bed was incredibly comfortable, the soft feather pillows blissful. The views are breathtaking, and the pool and deck offer complete privacy from the neighbouring villas. As a certified scuba diver, I spent most of my time exploring the spectacular underwater world near the island and enjoying treatments in the exquisite spa. The therapists' service, care and experience are at the highest level. In-villa dining is best ordered in advance as the orders might take a while to arrive. I pre-ordered my breakfast and dinner during the day, and they arrived on point. The croissants and pastries for breakfast tasted like in a Parisien cafe; the Club Sandwich was nothing short of one you would eat in New York. I have travelled with several brands under the Marriott umbrella (St. Regis, Ritz-Carlton, EDITION), and this was my first experience with JW Marriott within their premium brands. The stay was perfect, and I highly recommend this beautiful resort to anyone looking for a dive adventure, luxury spa treatments, excellent food or simply a tranquil island escape. Read Less

To say the staff went above and beyond wouldn't even do it justice. Our butler Najaah was genuinely the nicest person ever. He quickly learned that my wife loved the sea life and was great at pointing out when there were dolphins swimming or the unique fish to the area. I can't say enough good things about him, he made our trip a 1000 times better. I've never been so impressed with housekeeping then I was here. Our villa attendant Afrah was great. Practically every morning after breakfast we came back to a spotless room and some fantastic towel animal or design on our bed. After our sunset beach dinner we came back to towels in the shape of hearts along with flower pedals on our bed. The staff at all the restaurants are some of the best we've experienced anywhere. Especially the staff at the main restaurant Aailla. The breakfast buffet there was delicious. There were so many options and different types of cuisines you could eat something different everyday. They even offered to make things off the menu if you didn't see anything you liked. It seemed each day the service would get better and better. The last day the cooks made my wife chocolate chip pancakes as she ate everyday and they wrote in chocolate syrup on the plate "we will miss you". The food prices seemed normal for being a remote island and the portions were huge. We did a food and beverage package and I highly recommend it. We had a such a great time that I honestly can say we will be staying at this place again the next time we travel to the Maldives. Read Less
